Faced with a deteriorating wooden deck that marred the property’s stunning overlook in Boulder, Colo., the clients sought a solution that matched their vision of elegance and durability. Together, we turned this into a Boulder Mountainside Retreat. The original wooden decks, weathered and worn, detracted from the home’s panoramic mountainside views. Peeling and splintering, the decks were more a liability than a luxury, prompting the need for a transformation.
After evaluating the condition and placement of the two original decks, we came up with a solution that required 735 feet of TimberTech Reserve decking in Antique Leather, renowned for its resilience and rich aesthetics. To complement the decking materials, we used 165 linear feet of RDI MetalWorks Excalibur® steel railing to frame the breathtaking vista, merging safety with style.
The new decks and railing complemented the spectacular view of the mountains. The black steel railings contrasted nicely with the lighter color of the TimberTech deck boards. For this project, we used pressure-treated LVL framing to provide a sturdy foundation and ensure the deck’s longevity against the elements. A gate provides a safe barrier between the deck and stairs leading to the ground level below.
The Boulder Mountainside Retreat project demonstrates innovative design and material excellence. With every detail meticulously crafted, the new decks, valued between $100,000 and $120,000, offer a haven of relaxation and scenic enjoyment.
