Converting a Basic Deck into a Functional, Shaded Outdoor Space
Our clients in Erie, CO, wanted a solution to their small, unshaded wood deck that would make the space more functional and comfortable for relaxation and entertaining. They envisioned a low-maintenance outdoor area with ample shade and a polished aesthetic, and we were happy to bring that vision to life.
We began by replacing the original wood deck with Deckorators Voyage Mesa composite decking, framed with a Khaya picture frame border for added visual appeal. The deck’s durability ensures it will stand the test of time without the upkeep required by traditional wood decks. To enhance the functionality of the space, we crafted three custom cedar pergolas strategically placed across the deck.
Each pergola was designed to provide shade while maintaining an open, airy feel and was finished with Avant black hardware for a sleek, modern look. We also added aluminum cable railings in Mocha Bronze, offering a contemporary edge and unobstructed views of the surrounding space.
The result is a stunning outdoor oasis where our clients can enjoy the outdoors in comfort, whether they’re relaxing alone or hosting family and friends. With the combination of durable materials, thoughtful design, and the addition of shaded areas, this custom deck is now an inviting, low-maintenance retreat perfect for all seasons.
